Hello Miss Inkers! Ali here on the blog today with a simple but classic Sympathy card using the wonderful Magnolia Sympathy stamp set. I love the look of gold and white and do like to keep my sympathy cards more monochromatic in color scheme. I also wanted to show you another way to use your stencils (if you weren't doing this already!) and that is to dry-emboss with them!
To begin this card, I stamped out the floral images onto white cardstock using versamark in and gold embossed them. I trimmed out the images and trimmed some branches (hint: use a white gel pen to 'hide' any stamping where you have trimmed off pieces of the image).
I used my Sunburst Stencil to create a dry embossed background piece - simply run it through your die-cutting maching with some white cardstock (with the same sandwich you would use for cutting dies). You can use a shim if you want a more prominent impression. This gives a lovely subtle look but adds interest and dimension to a plain background.
I trimmed the background piece, arranged and adhered the flowers and stamped a sentiment with versafine ink, on vellum strip and gold embossed it. I attached the strip to the background piece with vellum tape runner behind the sentiment and on the back of the panel where the vellum folds around. I attached to a white cardbase.
