Clean & Simple Fun with the Stuck Duck Stamp Set

Hi friends, it’s Rick here on the blog today, and I’ve got a clean and simple card design that will hopefully inspire you to reach for your stencils and stamps in a fresh way! I’m featuring the Stuck Duck Stamp Set and Air Mail Frame Stencils from Miss Ink Stamps, and this playful combo came together to create a lighthearted card with a touch of humor—perfect for brightening someone’s day.

A Fresh Take on Clean & Simple Design

When I sit down to make a clean and simple card, I’m reminded how powerful a minimal design can be. Sometimes, the hardest part is knowing when to stop adding details! With this card, I focused on using bold focal points and intentional color placement to keep things interesting without overwhelming the design. The Air Mail Frame Stencils helped me do just that.

I ink blended directly on my top-folding card base using neutral and warm tones to build a frame that felt structured yet soft. It’s amazing how stencils can instantly elevate a card while keeping the overall look crisp and simple.

Pro Tip: When ink blending directly on your card base, use a light touch and build up color slowly. This avoids harsh lines and keeps your edges clean for that classic clean-and-simple finish.

Adding a Bit of Duck-Tape Humor

I couldn’t resist using the Stuck Duck Stamp Set—that adorable little duck and the cheeky sentiment make the perfect playful pairing. I love cards that can make someone smile the second they open them, and this set definitely delivers that kind of joy.

I colored my duck and a few duct tape pieces, then layered them over the stenciled frame to draw the eye right to the center of the card. The humor in the sentiment, “What do you mean duct tape can’t fix it?”, really pulls it all together. Sometimes the best handmade cards are the ones that combine a clever sentiment with simple design—because that’s what makes them memorable.

Finishing Touches That Shine

Even a simple card deserves a touch of shine! I added subtle highlights and a little sparkle to the duct tape pieces for that “just right” finishing touch. These tiny details help your images pop and give the card a polished, professional feel without adding bulk or clutter.

Pro Tip: A white gel pen or paint marker can be your best friend for finishing touches. Add tiny highlights to images for instant dimension—especially on smaller stamped pieces.
