Welcome back! This month I'll be playing with some Ken Oliver Color Bursts! I used them along with the Oopsy Daisy stencil to create two backgrounds!
I started by cutting a panel of watercolor paper. Then I sprayed the stencil with some Pixie Spray to be sure the stencil would keep good contact with the paper. Then I also used masking tape to hold them both in place. Then I sprinkled some Color Burst powders over the top.
You'll get the best result using a fine mister because the water will seep under the stencil even with the adhesive. I spray just a light amount of water over the top... and the magic starts to happen.
Then I used a paintbrush to move the colors around. I added a little water here and there. You can be really careful to fill in all of the spaces, but I prefer a more distressed look. I also didn't blend too much so as not to mix all of the colors together. If I get a little too much water, I'll dab it a bit so too much water doesn't seep under the stencil.
So pretty right???
Even better... I sprinkled a little extra powder onto the stencil and sprayed it a bit and flipped it over onto another panel and another cool look!
Using a circle as a matte and created a scene with some images from Springtime Bunnies and Lovely Unicorns that I stamped, fussy cut and colored with Copics. I love how it's so easy to mix and match images from the shop!
A sentiment and a few sequins and done. I'll be sharing another card tomorrow using the second panel I created in this session.
