Hello, Miss Ink friends!! I hope your week is off to a great start!!
Brenda here with another installment of "step up your cardmaking". Today, I will show you how I created the reflection in the ice for this card...
I began by stamping the cute penguin images from Say Cheese onto a panel of white cardstock and masking paper with Copic-friendly black ink.
Next, I stamped the same images onto acetate with the same black ink, flipped the acetate over and rubbed it onto my panel with the original stamped images. The ink remains wet on the acetate and allows you to transfer it to the cardstock, while also allowing you to see through it for placement.
I adhered the masks to that panel and ink-blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire onto it.(I didn't mask the reflection images, as the ink-blending was light enough that it could be colored over.)
I removed the masks and colored the images with Copics. The reflection wasn't light enough for me, so I had the idea to add vellum over them to soften them a bit. However, I didn't want to add the vellum over the penguins' feet and tail. So, I stamped and colored the penguins again and fussy cut them out. (I didn't mind...these guys are the cutest and so fun to color!)
The vellum was trimmed to the same height as my ice and wrapped around the back of the card panel on the sides and adhered to the back. The panel was adhered to a white card base and I added snow with a white gel pen.
The sentiment, also from Say Cheese, was white heat embossed onto a black cardstock strip and adhered. As a finishing touch, I darkened the penguins' eyes with a black gel pen and added tiny dots to the centers with a white gel pen.
This was the first time that I've tried this reflection technique and it was definitely a learning process...ha!! However, I am very happy with how it came out in the end!!
