Brew Up Some Fun | Scene Building with the Magic Collection

Hi friends! I’m Lauren from Lauren Taylor Made, and I’m thrilled to be back for another card making video. Have you ever felt like a certain space in your home holds a bit of mystery, perhaps even a lingering presence? Today's handmade card creation was inspired by just such a feeling, reminiscent of a forgotten corner where secrets might just bubble beneath the surface. I reached for the enchanting "Magic Collection" from Miss Ink Stamps and let my imagination wander to create a little scene filled with curious details. You might just spot a spectral friend and a waterlogged book tucked away in this design!

To bring this card to life, I started by building a unique backdrop. Using frame dies, I created a smaller panel of cream cardstock to serve as my scene. Then, with the help of the Perspective Floor Stencil, I added a textured "ground" using Distress Inks in Antique Linen and Tea Dye, creating a subtle gradient. I then layered the coordinating Cobblestone Stencil to add a wall-like effect above the floor, maintaining a bit of separation between the two. A touch of Tea Dye splatters added a bit of aged character to the scene.

The magic truly began when I moved on to the next layer. On a piece of blue cardstock, I used more stencils from Miss Ink Stamps, inspired by the colorful potions I had already prepared using images from the Witch's Brew Stamps Set. I blended Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass as a base, then layered with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet, creating a vibrant, almost glowing effect in the corners. A final touch with a cork-like stencil using Tea Dye added the perfect finishing detail to these background "bottles." For an extra touch of shimmer, I splattered the background with opal watercolors, giving it a magical sheen.

The final steps involved die-cutting both the "bathroom" scene and the potion bottle background using frame dies. Then came the fun of scene building! I adhered my little ghost and the damp-looking book directly to the background, nestling them in the shadowy corners. The main character, along with her wand and potion bottles, were popped up with foam adhesive to add dimension. To complete the card, I stamped a playful sentiment on white cardstock and added it to the front, with a little hidden message inside the card.
