Eww! No Boys Allowed! Magic Collection Card

Hi, crafty friends! Lauren Taylor Made here, and I’m so excited to share my latest card project on the Miss Ink Stamps blog! Today, I’m sharing a card that features two of my favorite images from the magical collection: a giant troll and a mischievous young witch. Together, they make such a fun scene, so I knew I wanted to build a background that felt full of texture and just a touch of magic.

I started with kraft cardstock, stamping the magical newspaper background in sand ink. Around the edges, I blended Tea Dye Distress Ink to darken things up, then splattered darker brown and white inks across the panel for a layered, rustic effect. To finish off the background, I used a lightning bolt stencil with a golden shimmer spray, which added a subtle shine that really comes alive when you tilt the card in the light.

Next, I prepared my frame. Using the scalloped rectangle die, I cut two layers from vanilla cardstock and glued them together for a thicker, more dimensional frame. I adhered the frame to the center of my background panel, making sure the lightning bolts peeked through evenly on all sides. For the sentiment, I went playful by die cutting the word “EWW!” with alphabet dies and layering extra cuts to give it weight, almost like chipboard. Once those were glued in place, I stamped “No boys allowed!” beneath them using crisp black ink. The bold sentiment really stands out against the rustic background and adds to the humor of this little scene.

Finally, I added my colored and cut out characters, popping them up on foam adhesive at opposite corners of the frame. The little witch sits at the bottom left, and the troll looms on the right, perfectly balancing the layout. I added a few white gel pen highlights to brighten the images and give the troll’s skin more texture. To finish, I mounted everything onto a top-folding A2 card base. I love how this design combines rustic textures, subtle shine, and playful storytelling—perfect for a magical card.
