Hello there, Christine here with a foiled card using the new Square Dance stencil and the Hippo Hooray stamp set. I'm usually not into a lot of foiling on a background, but this foiled background has so much color variation that I ended up loving it.
To prepare the background, I simply put Pixie Spray on the Square Dance stencil, waited 5 minutes and then adhered it to a piece of 80 lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. Using a palette knife I spead the Decofoil Transfer Gel Duo over the entire stencil, then removed the stencil and cleaned it with soap and warm water. Be sure to let the paste dry completely (it should feel slightly sticky, but dry)- I waited until the next day and then placed a piece of Decofoil Aqua foil over the entire area before running it through my die cut machine. As you can see the foil appears to be one color, but the foil card definitely has some variation to it when light hits it!
I then die cut a sentiment and some images from the Hippo Hooray stamp set with my Brother Scan-n-Cut2 and kept the copic coloring simple. I'm always trying to get better with copic coloring and I tried to color a little differently than I usually do, with the darkest color only on the very outer part of the image and lots of blending. I only used C5, C3 and C0 for the hippos and E44 for the feet- that is it! The white gel pen, gives it more dimension
To create some interest, I die cut a background (Lawn Fawn) out of aqua cardstock and vellum that I had in my stash; I added the vellum on top of the aqua and I love the delicate muted contrast it has with the shiny foiled background. Finally I added some sequins and some clear baubles (Trinity Stamps). I hope that you will give foiling with the new stencils a try! Thank you for stopping by!
