How are you dodoing?

How are you dodoing?

Today I have a very simple card with the adorable Miss Ink Stamps Dodo stamp set. The most difficult part of the card was figuring out how to best create a mirror image of the Dodo so as to have them facing each other.

After trying a few ways, the way that I found easiest and produced the cleanest image was to use my Waffle Flower Media Mat.  Simply stamp the image onto the mat, and then place the cardstock on top of the image and rub the paper to pick up the ink, while making sure that you don't move the paper and get a smudged image.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I definitely did not do a perfect stamp each time, but thats why I always do multiple stamping of the same image.  I did some simple coloring with some Stampin Up markers.

To create the background, I knew that I wanted a simple background die to create an impression (die is from Concord & 9th).  I decided to ink blend on top of the impressed image with distress oxide ink in dried marigold & tattered rose. I tried to use very little ink, as I mostly wanted it to catch in the edges of the design.  I added some Nuvo Crystal drops in gold, some sequins, some pink Watercolor Butterflies and a banner stamped with the sentiment from the Dodo stamp set.
