Hello crafty friends, it's Rick back with you again this week with another fun card idea to help inspire you. Today we are playing with the Storybook Alice Stamp Set, the A2 Masking Stencils and the Wonky Checkers Stencil and a little copic coloring to create a whimsical belated birthday card.

I started out by stamping the open book and Alice from the Storybook Alice Stamp Set in alcohol marker friendly ink onto a piece of smooth white cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" knowing I was planning on cutting the panel down to a smaller size. I then used a few Copic markers to color the images. I used the Storybook Alice Coordinating Outline Dies to cut out each of the images.

Once I had the images cut out I took one of the A2 Masking Stencils and layered the Wonky Checkers Stencil behind it. I secured the two stencils together with some low tack tape and ink blended a blue and a purple ink through the stencils to create a focal panel for the belated birthday card. I then replaced the A2 Masking Stencil that I used for the card front over the ink blended area and took a black gel pen and traced around the edge to create a thin mat layer. This little trick creates an instant focal area for out focal images.

After creating the focal area I added one of the sentiments from the Storybook Alice Stamp Set to the outside of the card and one to the inside of the card. I added the Happy belated birthday sentiment along with the hatter image from the stamp set to the inside of the card. I added Alice and the book to the outside of the card. I did add the stamped, and die cut images to the outside of the card using foam tape.

To finish the card I added a little glitter glue to the icing on the birthday card and a few white gel pen highlights to the stamped and colored images. You can see the full process video below.
Thanks for dropping by today I hope that today's card inspires you to give the stacking stencils technique a try and you are inspired to make a few belated birthday cards to have on hand in your stash. Especially if you are like me and forget to send out those birthday cards when you are supposed to.
