Mixing It Up - A Rainbow Background

Mixing It Up - A Rainbow Background

Welcome back!  Lisa here and today I've got a rainbow background using the Chevron Stencil for you and a couple stencil tips!

Sometimes when you have a stencil with detailed or small pieces it can be hard to blend ink without them moving around.  I've recently learned about and started using Pixie Spray which is a light adhesive spray that you spray onto a stencil and let it sit for about a minute and then place over your piece.  It adheres these lines in place perfectly so I can work with any medium.  Also, sometimes instead of blending with a brush, if your ink is nice and juicy it's just as effective and easier to blend by dabbing a sponge over instead of using a brush or a circular motion.  I just dabbed each color on here and overlapped with the next and I got great coverage!

I also splattered some water over this one and blotted it dry with a paper towel.  Since this is just a water based dye ink and not the Distress Oxides the splatters were a bit more subtle but have a very cool look and love what it did to some of the colors.  I sprayed a little water over it infused with InkOn3 Liquid Pixie Dust which gives it a pretty shimmer too.

It was fun to use the images from Magnolia Sympathy and Brewtiful together.  I kept the colors bright to go along with the background and chose the sentiment because these colors make me happy!  I used the frame from Trinity to ground the images and added a few sequins from Trinity also!
