Mixing It Up With a Diamond Fade Background

Mixing It Up With a Diamond Fade Background

Lisa here and I'm sharing a card today with a pretty background I made using the Diamond Fade Stencil 2, some Distress Oxides and Gold Pigment Ink.

I started by using Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet Distress Inks and blended them together in a random pattern onto my background panel.  Then I used the stencil and applied some Dusty Concord and Faded Jeans through it in a diagonal pattern and lightly fading in some areas.

I moved the stencil over a bit to offset the design and applied some gold pigment ink through it with a sponge creating an almost 3D effect with the diamonds:

Finally I splattered a little bit of Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold because I love splatters!  I added a sentiment from the Calm and Bright stamp set.

Sometimes when there is a little area of an image I cut out that is open space in the image, I like to color it in with similar colors to the background rather than try to cut it out and risk ruining my image.  There is that little area in between the trees in this one that I colored with some Copics and I think it helps to give the feel that you can see the background through it.

I stamped and cut out the images from the Oh, Deer stamp set using my Scan N Cut and colored them in with Copics.  I decided to go with non-traditional colors to match my background with blue trees (in B000, B01, and B02) and white deer with gold antlers (W00, W0, and W1).  I love my Uniball Gel Impact pen in gold.  It gets great coverage and worth the waiting time for the drying.

I love using varying thicknesses of foam tape to add my images and splattered a little more gold over the trees before I added my deer.  And finally just a few sequins in gold and blue.

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I hope you enjoyed your visit and you'll come back soon for more inspiration!
