Rocker Pendulum Coffee Card

Rocker Pendulum Coffee Card

Today's card is a coffee rocker pendulum card using the Brewtiful Stamp set.  The steaming coffee moves independently from the rocker circle shaped card through the use of a pendulum.  I first saw how to make this amazing pendulum card rocker card from Amanda at Pear Blossom Press; her video is very thorough and I encourage you to watch it here. I will succinctly detail the how-to below and here is a brief video I made on how the card works.

  1. Two circles (5 inch diameter) were cut out of heavy weight cardstock (110 lb) with a Brother ScanNcut2 (I don't have a 5 inch circle die) and scored down the middle.  One circle was folded with a very soft fold along the score line (do not do a hard crease) and then the front bottom half was brush blended with tattered rose Distress Oxide ink using a Trinity Stamps blendability brush.  With a craft knife cut an inch slit in the middle of this circle. Set aside.
  2. I heat embossed the caffeine molecular symbol from the Brewtiful Stamp set with clear embossing powder on Lawn Fawn's Spiffy Speckles yellow cardstock and then adhered to the second circle. On the lower half of the second circle (with the adhered cardstock), put a generous layer of double sided adhesive foam before adhering to the back part of the first circle (which has been folded over and ink blended).  Having a foam layer allows the pendulum mechanism to freely move, which would not occur if you simply glued the 2 circles together.
  3. I stamped all the images with Gina K black amalgam ink and cut all the images by hand. I kept the copic coloring of the images very basic, flowers (E000, R00, C0), coffee cup and berries (R32, R30 & R00) and the leaves (G46, G43). The sentiment and coffee steam from the Brewtiful Stamp set were heat embossed with Wow Metallic Copper embossing powder on heavy weight vellum and cut by hand.  I also cut a small part of a doily and placed it on front of a small rectangular panel of the same Lawn Fawn cardstock.
  4. The pendulum mechanism is simply a penny hot glued to a thin rectangular strip of paper which is first threaded through the slit and then adhered to a circle.    Thereafter adhere the coffee cup image to the circle in the middle of the card.  Place some double sided adhesive foam on the rectangle panel with the doily to again give the pendulum mechanism the ability to work.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the pendulum rocker card- I will definitely be making one of these again in the near future!

Thank you for stopping by!
