Sorting Hat Magic with the New Release

Hi, crafty friends! Lauren Taylor Made here, and I’m so excited to share my latest card project on the Miss Ink Stamps blog! I’m sharing a card today using the brand new Magic Collection, mixing both new and older products together. For this design, I wanted to create a layered, text-heavy background full of personality traits and magical vibes, then bring in a character and the Talking Hat die to finish the story.

I started with a white cardstock panel slightly smaller than A2 size and placed it on my grip mat with the Magic Triangles stencil stuck in place. Using a soft minty ink, I blended a subtle background that would give a hint of texture without overwhelming my stamping. From there, I pulled out the Eeagle themed house of the Personalities stamp sets and began building up my background. Using a mix of gray and blue inks, I stamped various words and images in different fonts, spacing them across the panel. I even stamped the eagle image once on a post-it and then lightly onto my background to keep it faint and layered underneath the words.

Next, I framed the panel with the Modern Type Frame die, popped up with thin foam adhesive for a little depth. I added a stamped and die-cut schoolgirl from the Best Sort stamp set in the bottom right, then die-cut the Talking Hat from kraft cardstock. To give it dimension, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and tucked a darker kraft piece behind the eyes and mouth. With more foam adhesive, I popped both the schoolgirl and the hat in place so it looked like the hat was sitting on her head while “thinking” about her personality traits.

To finish, I adhered the entire panel to an A2 card base and stamped additional elements inside the card, including a seal-like eagle image and a sentiment that reads “What matters most is believing in yourself.” I love how this ties back to the idea of the sorting hat—balancing what others see with what you believe about yourself. I had such a fun time mixing stamps, dies, and stencils from this release, and I can’t wait to keep playing with the other personality sets. Thanks so much for joining me, and I hope this inspires you to dive into the magic of Miss Ink Stmaps’ newest collection!
