Winter Wand-erland Tags • Snow Wizard + Horizon Pines • Miss Ink Stamps

There’s something wonderfully charming about holiday gift tags, especially when you can pack a lot of personality into a small surface. Rick here, and I’m excited to share a set of cozy winter tags I created using some of my favorite designs from Miss Ink Stamps. These little tags remind me of the handmade touches my grandmother always added to her gifts, and I love how something so small can instantly make a package feel special. Today’s project mixes warm stenciled texture with playful winter images, and they came together in a way that feels both fun and achievable during the holiday rush.

Warm Winter Scenes with Stamped and Colored Images

I started by stamping the snowman from the Snow Wizard Stamp Set along with the soft pine silhouettes from the Horizon Pines Stamp Set. Coloring them brought back a memory of decorating winter scarves as a kid, always trying to add little details that made each one unique. I used alcohol markers to add soft shading and gentle color transitions, which really helps these stamped images come to life.

Both coordinating die sets—the Snow Wizard Outline Dies and Horizon Pines Outline Dies—made cutting everything clean and simple. I also used the tiny snowflakes from the set to create extra pieces to sprinkle across each tag. Pro tip: small accent images like snowflakes or stars are perfect for filling in open spaces without overwhelming the focal point.

A Cozy Knit Background for Texture

To give the tags a warm, sweater-weather vibe, I cut the bases using the Tags Die Set and blended ink over the Classic Knit Stencil. The knit pattern adds instant texture without making the design feel heavy. It reminds me of pulling out my favorite knit blanket every winter—soft, comforting, and a little nostalgic.

Using watercolor paper for the tag bases gives the background a subtle, velvety blend that works beautifully with stencils. One of my favorite tricks when stenciling is easing up on pressure toward the edges to create a natural fade. It adds depth without extra layers or techniques.

Building Layers and Adding Sparkle

Once the backgrounds were ready, I stamped the sentiment from the Snow Wizard Stamp Set and began assembling the scenes. Foam adhesive behind the snowman adds just enough lift to make him the star of each tag, while the die-cut trees and snowflakes help frame the design.

A little Rock Candy Glitter on the snowman and trees adds sparkle without taking over. It’s subtle, but when these tags catch the light on a wrapped gift, it feels magical. Pro tip: for clean glitter application, dab on a thin layer of liquid adhesive and tap the glitter in lightly with your fingertip.

Finishing Touches

I topped each tag with coordinating twine to keep the cozy theme going. These tags are a great option if you want something handmade but approachable for gift wrapping, treat bags, or even as accents on holiday cards. They come together quickly and look like you spent much more time on them than you did.

I’ve shared a video walking through these tags from start to finish if you want a closer look at the stenciling, coloring, and layering. I hope they inspire you to create a few handmade touches for your holiday gifting this season.
