Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog today with a “Corny” Card to share. I have so many (new to me) beautiful Miss Ink stamp sets and I’m always trying to use a set I haven’t used before in each of my posts. These adorable farmers from Keeping it Rural have been calling to me for weeks. So, I thought I’d get them inked up and onto something cute.
After stamping and coloring these images with my beloved copic markers, I ran them through my scan n cut. While playing with the layout, I realized that these were some pretty large images, and was going to create a tall slimline card. But there was barely any space on each side of the house for cornstalks, then... I remembered, I had a few crazy sized envelopes in my stash. I think they were left over from a package of Christmas cards from years ago. The envelopes could fit a 4x7 card. Which is such a fun and unique size. I totally embraced it and created this scene. I loved the size so much I tried to go online and purchase more of these envelopes but apparently they don’t exist.
I trimmed some Bristol Smooth Cardstock to 6.75x3.75 for my image panel and 1/3 of the way down I stamped 4 cornstalks across the paper. On the top third of my panel I gently inked Tattered rose with just a KISS of Abandoned Coral. And on the bottom half, I inked Mowed Lawn with Lucky Clover. I tried to blend each color into white with there being about a one inch area of white across the cornstalks, knowing it wouldn’t be visible . I splattered white and yellow ink, as well as glittery perfect pearls, onto the panel.
While that dried, I used some stitched letter dies to cut out “Awe Shucks” from white cardstock. I cut each letter out twice and glued them together for a thicker letter. This stamp set has a stamp with that sentiment on it, but it is small, and I wanted a speech bubble in addition to the large words. I glued my letter to the top portion of the panel, then adhered two cornstalks and my house to the center. Next, I added my farmers and their hen, as well as a speech bubble that says “you’re amaizing” (I love puns).
I finished this off by mounting it onto a red layer and adding some sparkly sequin mix. I think this will make a wonderful thank you card, or encouragement card. And the size is awesome!
I hope you like this and are inspired to create a fun farm scene sometime soon thank you for dropping by,
Davina
